Effects of nature-based mindfulness training on depression among adults with childhood adversity: A randomised controlled trial
Objectives: 1. PInvestigate the effect of Nature-based Mindfulness Training (NBMT) on reducing depressive symptoms among adults with depression and adverse childhood experiences (ACE). 2.Investigate the effect of NBMT on reducing anxiety symptoms and improving quality of life among adults with depression and ACE. 3.Compare the effects of NBMT with MBCT in reducing depressive and anxiety symptoms and improving quality of life . 4.Examine adherence and rumination as potential mediators responsible for better outcomes in NBMT.

The method of sampling will be stratified randomisation based on sex and psychiatric medication use to achieve demographic balance between the two arms. An experienced independent statistician will generate the randomisation sequence using computer-generated random results.
The research staff member who conducts the assessments or statistical analyses will be blinded to the group assignments.

1) Aged 18 years or above 2) Screened by the Patient Health Questionnaire depression scale (PHQ-9) with at least moderate depressive symptoms (i.e. a PHQ score of 10 or above) 3) ACE histories will be collected using the Adverse Childhood Experiences—International Questionnaire (ACE-IQ) with at least one ACE;
