试验目的

To determine the clinical effectiveness of either acupuncture combined with herbal moxibustion or acupuncture alone when compared to waiting list for patients with allergic rhinitis symptoms, measured by the improvement of nasal condition, quality of life, and serum IgE level.

入选标准

1. Medical history: the subject has a history of allergic rhinitis, which is related to change in temperature and allergens such as pollen, dust mites, etc; 2. Clinical symptoms: the subject has the primary symptoms of nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing and nasal itchiness. Subjects must have two or more of these symptoms; 3. Aged between 18 - 65; 4. A Total Nasal Symptom Score (TNSS) ≥ 4; 5. The subject agrees to take part in this study and is fully capacitated, can express personal will and accurately describe symptoms.；

排除标准

1. Has undertaken Chinese medicine treatment related to allergic rhinitis over the past month; 2. Has contracted respiratory infection or acute paranasal sinusitis within the past 14 days; 3. Has a history of chronic paranasal sinusitis; 4. Has organic nasal pathological changes or has had nasal surgeries; 5. Has asthma and other respiratory attack conditions; 6. Has taken antihistamines, steroids, decongestants (used on the nose, the mouth and the eyes), antibiotics, anti-coagulant and anti-platelet agents in the past month; 7. Has undertaken specific immune treatment or systemic hormone therapy in the past year; 8. Has serious cardiac, liver, renal, cerebrovascular conditions, or neural or mental disorders, etc.; 9. Be pregnant or nursing, or planning to conceive during the course of treatment; 10. Has G6PD; 11. Has wounds at the punctured locations or diabetes mellitus.；
