Disaster preparedness, resilience building and health in remote, extreme poverty, disaster prone non-Han ethnic minority based villages in China
Disaster preparedness, resilience building and health in remote, extreme poverty, disaster prone non-Han ethnic minority based villages in China
This project aims to i) assess how health knowledge and attitude might have affected populations affinity to adopt disaster preparedness and health-enhancing related behaviors, ii) examine and compare disaster health and medical preparedness between Han and non-Han ethnic minority groups, iii) understand how urbanization may have affected health status and outcomes in remote rural disaster-prone ethnic minority population in China, iv) examine how health beliefs might be affected in the process of urbanization, & v) evaluate the effectiveness of these interventions in enhancing the knowledge and increasing behaviors.

Subjects will be identified by the name list of the village. The village will be selected if it is defined as remote, extreme poverty, disaster-prone, ethnic minority. Subjects will be recruited before the health education/intervention with the coordination of village heads and each resident’s personal consent.
