Randomized controlled trial of Enhancing Contact Model on reducing stigma of mental illness in family caregivers of persons with schizophrenia in rural China
The study tests the short (post- intervention) and long-term (9-month follow-up) effectiveness of a newly developed Enhancing Contact Model (ECM) Intervention for reducing self-stigma in family caregivers of persons with schizophrenia, and examines whether ECM is more effective on reducing self-stigma than Psychoeducational Family Intervention (PFI).

The inclusion criteria for family caregivers: 1. Being the father or mother of a person with schizophrenia identified in 2015; 2. Aged 38- 75 years; 3. Living together with and caring for the patient; 4. Not participants in our prior PFI studies; 5. Be able to provide written informed consent. The inclusion criteria for person with schizophrenia: 1. Be identified in the 2015 survey; 2. Aged >=18 years; 3. Not participants in our prior PFI studies.；
