The Status of Hope in Chinese Patients on Peritoneal Dialysis: A Mixed Methods Study
This exploratory mixed-methods study aims to develop a model to understand the level, concept, development, and impact of hope in Chinese renal patients on PD. The four research questions that will guide this study are: 1. What is the level of hope perceived by Chinese renal patients on PD? 2. Does the level of hope affect HRQoL, anxiety, and depression in these patients? 3. What does hope mean to these patients? 4. What can be helpful to foster hope from patients perspectives?

Eligible participants should meet the following criteria: 1) Chinese >=18 years old; 2) diagnosed with ESRD (glomerular filtration rate <=15 ml/min/1.73m2 as estimated by CKD-EPI equation); 3) received automated PD or continuous ambulatory PD for at least three consecutive months; 4) able to communicate in Cantonese; 5) able to give informed consent.；
