Transesophageal echocardiography to measure diastolic function in patients undergoing noncardiac surgery under general anesthesia with sevoflurane, with or without nerve block
This transesophageal echocardiography study was undertaken to assess left ventricular diastolic function during anesthesia maintenance by sevoflurane alone and sevoflurane + nerve block in elderly patients with diastolic dysfunction.

This retrospective clinical observational study included 38 patients scheduled for transabdominal operation with American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status I–II, age>60 years, who demonstrated a sinus rhythm and mitral valvular e velocity <10 cm/s and averaged (left ventricular)LV E/e>9cm/s indicating diastolic dysfunction1 with TEE evaluation after anesthesia induction.；
