This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of using the Chinese Aircraft-shaped Sleeve (CASS) system on the clinical outcomes of tibial intermedullary nailing using a suprapatellar approach for the treatment of tibial fractures in a cohort of adult Chinese patients.

After patients were enrolled in the study, each received a sealed envelope containing a randomised number, generated using SAS 9.2 (SAS Institute, Inc., Cary, NC, USA) based on the order of admission, for allocation to either the CASS group or the conventional sleeve group, in a 1:1 ratio.
Due to the specific nature of the intervention methods, double-blinding could not be achieved between the surgeon and patients. Data processing, statistical analysis and evaluations were performed by independent professionals who had no knowledge of group assignment.
